usability

The most important goal of a website should be to deliver to wanted information to the visitors as fast as possible. Artistic websites are nice, but won't help you if they aren't usable at the same time and annoy visitors.

technical SEO

To rank high in search engines, the technical implementation of the website is as important as its content.

integrate your tools

Ideally, managing your website should not involve entering the same data that's already available in other tools you use. And because you should be able to control your content yourself, I always employ easy-to-use CMS' like Wordpress and Directus.

privacy

The internet is filled with trackers and corporations which want to make money using your data. I believe that privacy is a fundamental right, which is why I build sites that collect as few data as possible. You can still get all the insights you need with privacy-aware analytics tools like Umami.

Bonus: in most cases you won't need a cookiebanner.
